During 2005 IARC will amend the Preamble to the IARC Monographs.  The Preamble describes the principles and procedures used in developing IARC Monographs, including the scientific criteria that guide the evaluations.  The objective is to reflect scientific developments and procedural changes that have occurred since the Preamble was last amended in 1991.

January 2006	Publish the final amended Preamble
December  2005	Report of the Advisory Group to Review the Amended Preamble (6-8 December 2005)
August 2005	Draft Preamble . Discussion of changes in the draft Preamble . Submit comments on the draft Preamble (closed 31 October) . Summary of public comments . Comments received
May 2005	Convene an Advisory Group to recommend updates to the Preamble Report of the Advisory Group to recommend updates to the Preamble (4-6 May 2005)
March-April 2005	Gather suggestions from recent meeting chairs and subgroup chairs Comments from recent meeting chairs and subgroup chairs

Pertinent files will be available on the IARC Monographs website (http://monographs.iarc.fr).  The final amended Preamble will be used starting at the February 2006 monograph meeting.
